Mega Evolution is a temporary battle transformation that only affects certain Pokemon, it is limited to one use each battle. A Mega Bracelet, Mega Cuff, or Mega Charm is required in the player's inventory to Mega Evolve.

Mega Evolved Pokemon are identified by the Mega in front of their name. The transformation is not only aesthetical, but it often involves a change in the Pokemon stats, abilities and typing, this change may be more or less significant depending on the Pokemon species.
Mega Evolved Pokemon have a base stat total exactly 100 points higher than their base form.

As of Generation 9, there are 46 species capable of Mega Evolution and a total of 48 different Evolutions. This means that a Pokemon, such as Charizard, can have more than one Mega Evolution, that is decided by the Charizardite X.pngMega Stone the Pokemon holds on the moment that transformation is tasked.

The Mega Evolution is unlocked by having a Mega Bracelet, Mega Cuff, or Mega Charm in the player's inventory while also having a Pokemon capable of Mega Evolving holding their respective mega evolution stone.

How to Mega Evolve?

In order to Mega Evolve, a trainer has to respect two basic requirements:

  1. The Pokemon must be holding its appropriate Charizardite X.pngMega Stone;
  2. The Trainer must have the Mega Bracelet.pngMega Bracelet equipped by having it in inventory.
    Rayquaza is the sole exception to this rule. Opposite to every other Pokemon, it uses the Dragon Ascent move to trigger its Mega Evolution and cannot mega evolve if it is holding a Buginium Z.pngZ-Crystal.

If the requirements are satisfied, the transformation can be triggered both in and out of battle:

  • In Battle - In the Fight menu, click the Mega Evolution button and select a move.
