Dynamax
Note: Dynamax is not currently implemented, but the following is planned thus far.
Dynamax, or D-Max, is a temporary battle transformation that can affect every Pokemon except for Zacian, Zamazenta and Eternatus, it is limited to one use each battle. This transformation cannot occur out of battle.
The Dynamax trasformation triples the Pokemon size for 3 turns, multiplying its HP from 1.5x to 2x and unlocking new powerful moves, the Max Moves. If the user is defeated or switched out before the end of the 3 turns, the transformation is reverted abruptly. Note that:
- - The boost in HP affects every Pokemon except Shedinja, and is completely dependant on the Pokemon Dynamax Level.
- - Max Moves can become Physical or Special moves and deal a different amount of damage depending on the base moves of the Pokemon; all Status moves become Max Guard while Dynamaxed.
A limited number of Pokemon also has access to a different variant of Dynamax transformation, the Gigantamax. Gigantamaxed Pokemon are identified by the Gigantamax in front of their name.
The Dynamax transformation is unlocked by charging and equipping a
Dynamax Band:
- Craft an
Uncharged Dynamax Band; - Collect a
Wishing Star, a rare item that may fall from the sky after 60% of your Pokedex is completed; - Use (right-click) the Uncharged Band with a Wishing Star in your inventory to fully charge it.
How to Dynamax?
In order to Dynamax, a trainer only has to respect one basic requirement:
- The Trainer must have the
Dynamax Band equipped.
If the requirement is met, the transformation can be triggered in battle by clicking the Dynamax button in the Fight menu and selecting a move.
Gigantamax
The Gigantamax, or G-Max, is a special kind of Dynamax transformation that only some Pokemon have access to.
Opposite to Dynamax, a Gigantamaxed Pokemon appearance changes significantly and it unlocks a Pokemon-specific strong move with powerful secondary effects, the G-Max Move.
There are 32 species capable of Gigantamaxing, however, to unlock this transformations, the Pokemon are required to have the
Gigantamax Factor, a rare condition that cannot be passed down through Breeding.
- Note: Having the Gigantamax Factor makes Eevee, Kantonian Meowth and Pikachu unable to evolve.
Gigantamax Factor
The
Gigantamax Factor is a special condition some appropriate Pokemon have a chance to spawn with. It can also be gained at any point by consuming a
Max Soup.
A Pokemon with the Gigantamax Factor displays the
icon next to its name both in the party and Summary menu.
The general rule is:
- Appropriate Pokemon have 1⁄512 chance to spawn with a Gigantamax Factor.
- Any Gigantamaxable Pokemon, except for Urshifu and Melmetal is able to gain the factor by consuming a
Max Soup.
Urshifu is able to gain the factor by the use of a special kind of
Max Soup.
Melmetal cannot gain the factor in any way, it can only only be obtained through evolution.
