Status Conditions
Status Conditions, also known as status ailments, are a game mechanic that affect a Pokemon's ability to battle.
The Status condition can occur in three different forms: Non-volatile, Volatile and Battle-related.
The Pokerus is also considered an exceptional status condition, but its mechanics are completely unrelated from this category.
All status condition can be cured by healing your Pokemon or by the use of a specific
Berry/curative item.
Non-volatile
Non-volatile Conditions remain even after the Pokemon is switched out. A Pokemon affected by a non-volatile status condition will have a related icon displayed on its party screen and Summary menu.
Each Pokemon can only be affected by one non-volatile condition at a time, which tipically cannot be overwritten until the first ailment is healed.
Wild Pokemon affected by a non-volatile condition are easier to catch.
Burn
The Burn condition inflicts damage equivalent to 1/16 of the Pokemon's max HP at the end of each turn, and halves damage dealt by the Pokemon's physical moves.

Freeze
The Freeze condition renders a Pokemon unable to use any move. The frozen Pokemon has a 20% chance to be thawed each turn.
Pokemon cannot be frozen in Harsh Sunlight.

Paralysis
The Paralysis condition reduces the Pokemon's Speed stat by 50% of its normal value and causes it to have a 25% chance of being unable to use a move.

Poison
The Poison condition inflicts damage equivalent to 1/8 of the Pokemon's max HP at the end of each turn.
Badly Poisoned
Bad Poison is an enhanced version of the Poison condition where the amount of inflicted damage increases every turn.
The damage is initially equivalent to 1/16 of the Pokemon's max HP, and it increases by 1/16 each turn the Pokemon stays on field (2/16 the second turn, 3/16 the third turn, etc).

Sleep
The Sleep condition causes a Pokemon to be unable to use moves, except Snore and Sleep Talk.
It lasts for a randomly chosen duration of 1 to 3 turns, unless it is self-inflicted using Rest, in which case it lasts exactly 2 turns.

Volatile
Volatile Conditions are inflicted by a move or ability effect and wear off automatically after the Pokemon is switched out or upon ending the battle.
A Pokemon can be affected by many volatile conditions at the same time.
Confusion
The Confused condition causes a Pokémon to have a 33% chance to hurt itself in its confusion instead of executing a selected move.

Drowsy
Drowsy is a condition that makes the Pokemon fall asleep at the end of next turn, unless it is already afflicted by a non-volatile status condition.
If the Pokemon is switched out, it loses its drowsiness.
Flinch
The Flinch status prevents a Pokemon from attacking during one turn.
Infatuation
Infatuation is a condition that renders a Pokemon unable to use any move 50% of the times, even against Pokemon other than the one it is infatuated with.
It can be cured with the use of one of the following items:

Battle

A Volatile Battle Status is usually auto-inflicted and wears off when the Pokemon is taken out of battle or a battle is over.
A Pokemon can be affected by many battle statuses at the same time.
